Wrapping up Great Expectations (late)

I believe the main message of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens is if you are happy where you are, it’s best to stay there. I know Pip's shame would not have been flawed if Estella did not impede on his life. Porter and I were having a discussion if Pip never met Estella or Miss. Havisham, what would he have spent his money on, Porter said he believed that Pip would have spent it only on Joe. Basically, the moral of the story is to be happy, and not have to suffer like Pip did, and not have a say in his life where in the original ending, every one lived happily, except for Pip.
