The reason to why I chose a guilty looking puppy, is that this is a major motif In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens. Through the First stage of the Novel, you see that Pip is very innocents and is very punishing to himself. For example; when Pip "Fights" the Pale Young Gentleman (A.K.A Herbert) He thinks that the police will come after him and arrest him for doing so. In the second stage you can see that he becomes less aware of his actions; thus less guilty. One thing that he is guilty about was; ignoring Biddy and Joe back at home. Another example would be when Mrs. Joe died; he said the experience to be, "wonderful" like curious, not great. Finally on the third stage, he is guilty about a lot of things, but mostly of Estella. He feels guilty that he couldn't impress her to make her stop the wedding between her and Drummel. He practically bowed down to her legs and told her not to marry Drummel. I wonder if Mrs. Havisham is guilty in making Estella a heartless beast, even though she seeks out revenge on the opposite sex.
